A soundtrack of field recordings created for the exhibition The Grolier Edition, held at The Bungalow, Buxton, UK, between Friday 14th July & Sunday 23rd July 2023, as part of the Buxton Festival Fringe.

The Grolier Edition is an exhibition of images taken from a Grolier Encyclopedia of Knowledge & presented as a slide show. It is an artwork by Hugo Edwardes. By removing the images from their original context & presenting them in a new context they are radically transformed, allowing for new relationships & meanings to be found in the mind of the viewer.

The Grolier Mix, by CJ Robinson, is a response to this in sound. The Grolier Mix follows the archival nature of The Grolier Edition, & applies a rigid grid structure to the field recordings. All compositional decisions are made by the grid. The title, The Grolier Mix, is a nod to John Cage's tape works Fontana Mix & William's Mix.
